Maqāṣid al-Qur’an: Concepts, Classifications, and Methods of Understanding

Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept of Maqāṣid al-Qur'an, which is the fundamental objectives on which the Qur'an was revealed. This Maqāṣid reflects the essence of the divine message that not only regulates aspects of worship, but also touches on the social, legal, moral, and spiritual dimensions of human life. This study was conducted using journal literature and notes. The results of the study show that the main objectives of the Qur'an include the development of monotheism, the formation of noble morals, the enforcement of justice, the maintenance of public benefits (maslahah), and the improvement of social order. Understanding this maqāṣid is important to ensure that the interpretation and implementation of the teachings of the Qur'an remain contextual, relevant, and answer the challenges of the times. This research is expected to be a scientific contribution in the development of better Qur'anic studies.
